Monsoon is the best season to spot huge frogs in Kerala. The first rains will usher the Frogs to jump out of their hibernation and leap to joy and freedom. If you drive in the rains through the Kerala village roads through the paddy fields/Kole fields, you can see frogs leaping across the road in your headlights. You can also see people with Torches or Search lights mounted on their heads with a stick and sack walking through the Paddy fields to catch the frogs.
Frog meat is the tastiest I have ever eaten. The soft and tender meat with masala and fried in oil is simply delicious. But it is hard to find the frog meat because it gets a premium in the Bar Hotels and is also exported.
