This blog is a platform to publish my experiments with cooking. It also incorporates my organic farming ventures at home. It is high time we discard the toxic and adulterated food and go back to mother nature and find more edible plants and fruits which are not preferred by the present generation. We are also bringing out a self invented recipe of healthy and delicious fresh cut Veg. Salads and Soups which can be tried by anyone for a change.

Mattupavile Krishi at Thekkiniyath House Ollur
The Krishi Bhavan supplied grow bags at my home have started yielding veggies. Today I harvested some red spinach. All the 5 vegetables given Tomato, Chilli, Brinjal and Ladies finger have flowered and are getting ready for harvest.
The Roof Garden Vegetables did not flourish too much. Small Red Ants and Milee Bugs are the main culprits. I asked the Krishi Officer for some advise and he suggested to spray Pseudomonas. I tried it. But no use. I used Laxman Regha chalk powder and the ants disappeared for a couple of days. The Brinjal leaves were yellowish and having dots. I sprayed Neem Oil and Pukala Kashayam. Another concoction of Kanthari Mulagu, Garlic, Ginger and soap solution etc. No use. I got some fresh and green chillies (250g) Some Red spinach and Ladies Finger. Now the Brinjals are growing slowly. The chillies are brownish in colour. The Tomato plant is fully conquered by Milee Bugs. The high heat is also killing the plants exposed to full sunlight.
The Grow Bags supplied by Krishi Bhavan was an utter failure. I have some Chilli plants surviving. The tomatoes were killed by Milee Bug and ants. I destroyed the whole lot. Same case with Red Spinach (Cheera). I lost 2-3 Ladys finger and Brinjal Plants. I decided to shift the surviving plants (Brinjal and Venda) to the shade on the terrace and pruned them as well. The unbearable sunshine and heat these days will destroy any plant exposed in the sunlight. I did not get any proper advise from the Krishi Bhavan and Agricultural Officer there. I see people who kept the plants on the ground level has also lost many items supplied by the Krishi Bahvan. They have planted other things like Payar etc. on their own.
